Four Popular Active Trading Strategies

What Exactly Is A Trading Strategy?

Trading strategy is a technique used by stock market traders to purchase and sell shares during trading hours. Its primary goal is to establish the best approach for the trader to book profits while protecting against any hazards.

Active traders can also trade a wide range of financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, currencies, and commodities. Option, futures, and derivatives may also be used to hedge investments or improve prospective returns.

Several trading techniques based on trade kinds have been created. The right strategy can safeguard traders from market volatility, provide a variety of trading chances, and make buying and selling easier inside market sessions.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • A trading strategy is an approach to the stock market in which traders buy and sell shares during a trading session.
  • Scalping exploits minor price differences in the very short term.
  • Long and short equities, swing, scalping, news trading, pair trade, trade signal, and social trading are all important trading methods.
  • Swing traders can hold positions from days to weeks or even months. The swing trader will rely heavily on technical analysis to identify when to enter and exit a position.
  • Using technical analysis and indicators, a trader may quickly design a strategy that balances market volatility and momentum and shows the trend.
  • Opening and closing positions inside the same trading day is referred to as day trading.

1.Scalping

Scalpers typically keep a trading position for a relatively short length of time, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes, with the goal of profiting on small price movements.

Because of the frequency with which scalpers trade, these costs can be significant if not managed efficiently. Furthermore, scalping necessitates quick decision making, focus, and discipline, as scalpers must be able to enter and exit positions quickly in order to capitalise on small price movements.

2.Choosing the Appropriate Market (Options, Equity, Forex, Futures):

Once a trader has gathered enough information about the stock market, they can select their trading instrument. A person, for example, can devise an equity or derivatives strategy.

3.Day Trading

Day traders seek to profit from price swings in a security and often close all of their holdings before the market closes for the day.

The general public frequently equates day trading with individual investors who work from home or a small office and trade securities with their own money. Day traders, on the other hand, work for huge financial institutions such as banks, brokerage firms, and hedge funds.

4.Swing Trading Strategy:

This technique is centred on spotting swing patterns created by price volatility and tries to profit from short-term trends. It is often used for long-term trading that lasts more than a day but less than a month.

5.News Trading:

This approach entails trading in response to news and events concerning a specific stock, such as revenue results, annual reports, mergers and acquisitions, and so on.

6.Position Trading

The goal of position trading is to profit from market trends rather than short-term price movements. Scalping, day trading, and swing trading are all more active than position trading. This strategy is often used by institutions with a piece of their trading book.

Position traders typically utilise fundamental analysis to find equities that are undervalued or overvalued, and they maintain these positions for the long term while waiting for the market to correct itself.

How Do I Get Started with Active Trading?

Being an active trader necessitates a thorough understanding of financial markets, trading tactics, and risk management measures. To get here, one must first learn the fundamentals of financial markets and trading.

Create a trading strategy next. Following that, select a broker and practise trading and the trading method on a simulated account.

How Do I Swing Trade?

Firstly one must learn the basics of swing trading. This involves understanding the concept of swing highs and lows, identifying trends and using technical indicators to analyze the market. Then one should choose a market to trade such as stocks, currencies or futures.

Technical analysis is frequently used to identify swing highs and lows, trend lines, and support and resistance levels.

Positions should be watched and, if necessary, changed based on market conditions. Finally, post-trader analysis should be performed to fine-tune one’s swing trading strategy.

What Is the MACD Indicator, and How Does It Work?

Traders use a variety of technical indicators to make educated conclusions about price direction and market activity. These indicators serve several functions, with the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator being one of the most often used instruments for detecting price direction and momentum.

After all, finding a trend is a key priority in trading because that is where the greatest money is produced.

Let’s take a look at how the MACD indicator works and how you can use it to predict trend strength and direction.

What Does MACD Indicate?

Crypto traders can use the MACD indicator to discover a variety of critical market movements, such as divergences, crossovers, and overbought and oversold positions, which are significant indications in market research.

What Is the Working Principle of Moving Average Convergence Divergence?

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator assesses the relationship between two moving averages and can be visualised as a histogram that reveals price strengths and weaknesses.

Calculation of the MACD

You will almost certainly never need to manually compute the MACD indicator, but knowing how it is calculated will give you a better grasp of the indicator.

There are three parts to the MACD indicator:

The MACD Trend Line

The EMA is a moving average that emphasises recent price data, making it sensitive to price fluctuations and a useful tool for recognising trends and buying and selling indications.

The number of price points contained in a single measurement is referred to as the EMA period, and depending on the indicator, you will employ different EMA periods to detect distinct patterns.

The 26-period EMA is subtracted from the 12-period EMA, and the difference is shown on the chart beside a signal line.

Line of Signal

The signal line is a moving average of the MACD line, which smoothes out the MACD line.

A 9-period moving average (SMA or EMA are both prominent forms of moving averages used for this) is the most common signal line setting.

This will be explained in greater depth later in this essay.

Histogram of MACD

The MACD histogram depicts the difference between the MACD line and the signal line as bars. The MACD line is above the signal line when the bars are above the zero line. When the bars are lower than the zero line, the MACD line is lower than the signal line.

Depending on your MACD approach, you may simply need to show the histogram and ignore the remainder of the indicator. Your platform’s indicator settings will allow you to preserve the histogram while removing the other lines if desired.

The Zero Line

In the MACD indicator, the zero line is a straight line that separates the positive and negative regions of the chart. The MACD line oscillates above and below the zero line to indicate whether the market is bullish or bearish.

If the histogram is above the zero line, the market is rising; if it is below the zero line, the market is falling.

How to Use MACD in Crypto Trading

How should you understand the MACD indicator’s signals? There are a number of useful methods for detecting the current market trend and spotting probable market reversal points.

1. MACD Bullish Trend

The trend is deemed bullish when the MACD line is above the signal line, and the further it is from the zero line, the stronger the trend. Traders can also use the histogram to forecast market trends.

When the histogram is above the zero line or green, the trend is bullish. Shorter histogram bars indicate a lesser trend, while longer bars suggest a stronger trend.

2.MACD’s Bearish Trend

In a negative trend, the MACD line remains below the signal line, and the greater the distance between them, the stronger the trend. The trend is bearish when the histograms are below the zero line. The length of the histogram bars can also indicate the trend’s strength.

3.Crossover of the MACD

As the name implies, a trend reversal is a change in an ongoing trend. It denotes the point at which a previously bullish trend becomes bearish or vice versa.

Observing the crossover of the MACD and signal lines is a classic way for detecting a trend reversal. In a bearish trend, when the MACD line crosses above the signal line, it suggests a change to a positive trend.

In contrast, the MACD line crossing below the signal line signals a bearish reversal, implying that the trend is likely to continue downward.

4.Conditions of Overbought and Oversold

Overbought and oversold conditions can be identified using the MACD indicator. When the MACD line is significantly higher than the signal line, the condition is called overbought.

An oversold position occurs when the MACD line is much lower than the signal line. These signals can be used by traders to join or exit positions based on their preferred trading strategy.

5.Price Disparity

A price divergence from the MACD indicator can indicate a potential trend reversal. This happens when the price makes new highs or lows but the MACD does not. In a bullish divergence, for example, the price continues to fall and sets a new low, despite the fact that the associated MACD indicates otherwise.

The bearish divergence, on the other hand, indicates a deteriorating price action. When a divergence occurs, a probable reversal is approaching.

The MACD Indicator’s Limitations

It generates false signals, leading traders to believe that a trend reversal is coming, only for the trend to continue.

Moreover, price divergence, which MACD attempts to identify, may not always accurately predict a trend reversal, as price may continue in the ongoing direction.

A Beginner’s Guide to Futures and Options Trading

Opening a futures and options account with a broker is only the first step in trading in this type of investment strategy. Futures and options are much more complicated than equities investment, and you must understand the intricacies more thoroughly.

Purchasing options allows you to profit from the movement of futures contracts at a fraction of the cost of purchasing the actual future. If you believe the value of a futures contract will rise, buy a call. If you believe the value of a futures contract will fall, buy a put. The premium is the cost of purchasing the option. Option writers are also traders.

The distinction between futures and options

To trade options, you must have a margin-approved brokerage account that allows you to trade options and futures.

Both derive their value from an asset known as the underlying, which might be shares, commodities, exchange traded funds (ETFs), stock market indices, or anything else. Both represent a future transaction.

The following are some important distinctions between the two:

Right vs. Obligation: A future and an option both allow any investor to purchase any investment at a specific price by a specific time and date. However, the markets for both of these goods are fundamentally unique in terms of how they operate and the risk they pose to investors.

If you feel the underlying’s price will rise, buy a call option. If the underlying price rises before the option expires, the value of your option will climb as well.

Date of transaction: A futures holder is obligated to exchange the securities on the agreed-upon date. While there are differences, you can exercise various options at any moment until the expiration date.

In India, for example, an index option can only be executed on the expiration day, whereas a stock option can be exercised at any time until the expiration date.

Payments in advance: You only pay when you square off the futures contract on the designated date. However, futures contracts require you to put up a “margin,” which is a percentage of the trade’s value. As a result, “leverage” magnifies your gains and losses.

You must keep INR 20,000 with your broker in order to execute this deal. If the stock rises 10%, you will have made a profit of INR 10,000 while investing only INR 20,000. As a result, your profit margin is 50% rather than 10%, as it would have been if you had purchased the shares.

Risk: You can choose not to exercise your options if the price falls. When it comes to futures, you won’t have the same level of freedom because the trade must take place on the designated date, regardless of price.

As a result, options theoretically lower the chance of loss. However, in practise, 97% of options expire without being traded. As a result, option traders are more likely than not to lose their premium.

Writing Options for Income

The option writer’s profit is restricted to the premium collected, but liability is high because the option buyer expects the option’s value to rise. As a result, option writers often own the underlying futures contracts on which they write options.

This is known as “covered call writing,” and it allows a trader to create trading profits by using options on futures she already owns.

The Most Used Trading Animals in the Stock Exchange

Investors may encounter trading, as well as numerous facets of the stock market. Investors may encounter the “animals of the stock market”; don’t worry, it’s not a zoo, but rather it gives various ways to use traders in trading our stocks.

The share market has animals ranging from rabbits to sharks, all of which have something to express. Let’s look at all of the trading animals in the stock market and see what they imply in this article.

List of Animals of the Stock Market

The Bull

A bull is the most visible and optimistic animal on the stock market. Bullish indicates that the market is in positive territory, with stock prices rising and investors pouring more money into the market.

The period between December 31st, 2011 and March 2015, in particular, was believed to be an uplifting period in this Indian market. This time, the Sensex was up by more than 98%.

The Bear

A bear market is the inverse of a bull market. During a bear market, investors’ emotions and view towards the market are negative and pessimistic, resulting in lower investments.

When the market falls by roughly 20%, it is regarded to be in a gloomy mood. It might last anywhere from a few days to a month. It could also happen if a country has a recession, which causes job losses and, as a result, decreased investment.

The Rabbit

They are typically intraday traders hoping for a quick profit. Rabbits may not even hold a stock overnight, and they are constantly on the lookout for fast bucks during the day.

The stock rose exactly as predicted, and you chose to sell it at 2.30 p.m. that same day to maximise your earnings. This is an example of a rabbit investor.

The Turtle

Turtle investors are often individuals who purchase slowly, sell slowly, and trade for the long term.

A trader, for example, may want to explore investing in an IT business since the stock is expected to expand in the long run. As a result, if you invest in the company, you may expect the bearish trend to last for a while. However, it may provide higher long-term results.e

The Chickens

A chicken is an investor who flees when things become tough. They panic at even the slightest bearish trend and make hasty investing judgements.

For example, many investors sell all of their equities the moment the graph turns red. This will have an impact on their investments and limit the potential of the investments they have.

The Pig

An investor is a pig who is emotional and greedy. The returns are insufficient for them. They also disregard conventional investment tactics in order to make a significant profit. As a result, pigs invariably incur a significant loss or gain.

Consider the same case above: you have made a profit in the long run, but you have opted to stay involved for a longer period of time in the aim of making even more profit. This will turn you become a pig investor.

The Ostrich

Investors with such a mentality are referred to be ostriches. They overlook the poor market conditions and continue to invest in the hope that the market would return to normalcy organically over time.

However, everything have changed, especially market conditions, and the potential now appears gloomy. You are an ostrich investor if you opt to stay invested despite the hurdles.

The Dog

In a larger market, dogs are smaller equities. They have been battered by their bad performance, but investors and analysts believe they will rebound.

Smaller IT organisations that are now struggling are an excellent example. They are not doing at their best owing to competition and a lack of recognition, but they may recover once they uncover their error.

The Sheep

They are frequently unsure of their own financial ideas, and they are always the last to follow an upward trend and the first to quit a downward trend.

The sheep prefer to side with the majority (herd) and follow a guru. They have no desire to create their own investing/trading strategy.

BPCL stock is up 2.5% as Q4 net profit increased by 168%.

BPCL share price: According to the earnings announcement, the oil marketing business made a standalone profit of Rs 6,477.7 crore for Q4FY23, up from Rs 1,959.6 crore in the previous quarter, while the profit was expected to be Rs 5,500 crore.

On Monday, the business reported a whopping 158.99% or 2.58 fold growth in standalone profit after tax (PAT) to 6,477.74 crore in Q4FY23, compared to 2,501.08 crore in Q4FY22.

Revenue for the current quarter was down 0.9% to Rs 1,18,112.1 crore from Rs 1,19,158.1 crore in the previous quarter, although it was still better than the projection of Rs 1,09,500 crore.

BPCL and other oil marketing companies (OMCs) did not modify fuel prices during the April-June quarter, resulting in higher operating expenses that harmed the businesses’ bottom-line margins.

The basket of crude oil that India buys was worth more than $100 a barrel in April of last year, but it is currently worth less than $75.

Let’s see what the brokers have to say:

According to the firm, core earnings have exceeded expectations, thanks to a robust refinery margin of $20/bbl. Furthermore, the brokerage anticipates that the good margin will persist.

“The new buy will only be activated above the daily close of 375 with a target of 400 and a stop-loss of 365 on a daily close basis,” stated Jigar S Patel, Senior Manager – Technical Research Analyst, Anand Rathi Shares & Stock Brokers.

In terms of revenue segments, the downstream petroleum segment generated 1.33 lakh crore in the fourth quarter, while the exploration and production of hydrocarbons segment generated 26.3 crore.

Emkay Global

We boost our target multiple to 5.6x FY25E EV/EBITDA and lower our target price by 13% to Rs395/share.

While earnings are expected to remain stable, there are system-wide risks due to the company’s new $500 billion capital expenditure plan and forthcoming national elections. “We keep ‘hold,'” stated the brokerage.

It is crucial to note that these figures do not account for the effects of the Special Additional Excise Duty and Road & Infrastructure Cess, which went into effect on July 1, 2022.

In response to the good Q4 results, the stock began trading on Tuesday at 367 and subsequently soared to an intraday high of 371, up 2.6% from the previous closing price of 361.60.

BPCL share price history

BPCL stock has increased by more than 10% year to date (YTD), while the Nifty50 has increased by less than 1%.

How Does An 18-Year-Old Begin Investing?

A minor (someone under the age of 18) can invest in the stock market. The guardian manages the small trading account, the demat account, and the bank account. Minors can open accounts with the majority of brokers in India.

What Exactly Is the Stock Exchange?

When you wish to buy stock in a company, you set your bid price by placing an order on an exchange through a stock broker. This broker locates another seller willing to sell at your price or at a price that is close to your bid.

The brokers deliver the shares and cash proceeds to the respective accounts after the market identifies two or more parties interested in filling a trade at the agreed-upon price.

Is it legal for a minor to invest in stocks?

The explanation is that the Indian legislative structure does not impose a minimum age limit for stock market investment. The law focuses on the criteria and conditions that must be met while investing on behalf of children.

What is the best way for an 18-year-old to begin investing?

6 Ways to Motivate Your Teens to Invest

  • Allow them to open their first checking account.
  • Create a savings account for your adolescent.
  • Teach them how to invest using a Roth IRA.
  • They’re dipping their toes into stocks.
  • Teach them about compact discs.
  • Open a Traditional Custodial IRA.

Can You Trade Stocks If You’re Under the Age of 18?

If you’re wondering whether kids under the age of 18 can trade stocks, the answer is yes… with a few caveats.

  • a joint brokerage account (you and your parent or guardian own the account together)
  • a standard brokerage account that you have authorization to use (the account will be owned by your parent or guardian)

What will I save if I invest Rs.5000 every month?

You can use our simple savings calculator to see how much you’ll accumulate if you save the same amount of money each month.

I Might Be Able to Save… If you start with Rs.5,000 and save an extra Rs.200 every month while generating a 7.0% return on your investment, you will have amassed Rs.284,576.69 after 30 years.

The Advantages of a Demat account for youngsters

If the minor inherits stocks or other tradeable securities from his or her family, they can be easily moved to the account.

The parent or guardian can also use the minor’s account to obtain an allotment of IPO shares. In this manner, minors can potentially benefit from huge long-term returns from equities.

Bull vs. bear: Why is the stock market dropping on every climb today – explained

If you follow the stock market in any way, you’ve probably heard a lot about bulls and bears. But how do these creatures relate to investing? Let’s look at what it means when someone says they are bullish or bearish.

What is the definition of a bull market?

When someone is bullish, it means they expect prices to grow over a specific time period. The word refers to broad market indexes like the S&P 500, specific industries, entire asset classes like real estate or commodities, and even individual equities.

What exactly does being bearish imply?

The most obvious culprit, however, is a general weakening or slowing of the economy. As investors lose faith in their current assets, they will begin dumping their stocks.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • A bear market is defined as a stock market that has fallen by at least 20% from its most recent peak.
  • It’s critical to grasp the distinctions between bull and bear markets, as well as how they affect your investment selections.
  • To profit from bull markets, traders use a range of techniques, including enhanced buy and hold and retracement.

Is it a bear or a bull market? Sometimes neither is true.

Furthermore, markets may face more dramatic shifts as a result of short-term trends or market corrections that generate downward swings. Bull and bear markets occur over time; the bulls have won as the stock market has performed well.

Bull Markets Have These Characteristics

Investors frequently develop a sour attitude on the market and may stop buying/start selling present investments. They may also begin investing in less hazardous assets.

“Bull markets are typically accompanied by a low number of people in need of work and investors with plenty of cash to invest in the markets.”

Businesses and businesses typically receive greater equity valuations, resulting in a high volume of initial public offerings (IPOs).

Investing in rising and falling markets

Buying equities early in a bull market and selling them before they reach their peak is one strategy to profit from rising prices. In a bear market, where losses are more likely, investing in equities should be done with extreme caution, as you are likely to lose money – at least initially.

If you’re looking to diversify your portfolio, a bear market can be a fantastic moment. You can invest in less risky assets such as bonds or look for dividend-paying equities.

Long-term success through investment

Long-term strategic asset allocation has proven to be the most effective technique for handling market changes over time. Working with a financial advisor to build a diversified investment portfolio can help you weather volatile markets, avoid the near-impossible challenge of market time, and make reasonable — not emotional — investing decisions.

What Is the Hammer Candlestick and How Do Investors Use It?

What Is a Candlestick with a Hammer?

A hammer is a price pattern in candlestick charting that occurs when a security trades significantly lower than its opening, but rallies within the period to close near the opening price.

This pattern creates a hammer-shaped candlestick with a bottom shadow that is at least twice the size of the true body.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Hammer candlesticks are often formed following a price decrease. They have a short lower shadow and a little genuine body.
  • When sellers enter the market amid a price decrease, the hammer candlestick appears. Buyers absorb selling pressure and drive the market price near the starting price by the time the market closes.
  • Hammer candlesticks signal a possible price reversal to the upside. Following the hammer, the price must begin to rise; this is referred to as confirmation.

Understanding Hammer Candlesticks

This occurs all at once, when the price declines after the opening but regroups to close near the starting price.

A hammer should look similar to a “T.” This indicates the potential for a hammer candle. A hammer candlestick does not indicate a price reversal to the upside until it is confirmed.

During or after the confirmation candle, candlestick traders will often aim to add long positions or exit short positions. A stop loss can be placed below the low of the hammer’s shadow for individuals entering new long positions.

Hammers can be found on any time frame, including one-minute, daily, and weekly charts.

Example of Using a Hammer Candlestick

The chart depicts a price decrease followed by a hammer pattern. This pattern had a long lower shadow that was several times longer than the actual body. The hammer indicated a likely price reversal to the upside.

Confirmation occurred on the next candle, which gapped higher and then saw the price bought up to a close much above the hammer’s closing price.

What Is the Difference Between a Doji and a Hammer Candlestick?

Dojis can indicate a price reversal or a trend continuance, depending on the confirmation that follows.

The hammer, on the other hand, happens after a price decrease, indicating a probable upside reversal (if confirmed), and only has a long lower shadow.

The Drawbacks of Using Hammer Candlesticks

Within two sessions, a long-shadowed hammer and a strong confirmation candle might push the price pretty high.

This may not be the best time to buy because the stop loss is a long way from the entry point, exposing the trader to risk that outweighs the possible return.

  • Because hammers do not specify a price goal, determining the potential payoff for a hammer trade can be tricky.
  • Exits must be based on other candlestick patterns or analysis.

The Hammer’s Psyche

As we’ve seen, an actionable hammer pattern usually appears in the context of a downtrend, or when the chart shows a series of lower highs and lower lows. The presence of the hammer indicates that more positive investors are taking positions in the stock and that a reversal in the negative price action is possible.

The hammer candlestick’s extended lower shadow shows an attempt to maintain the price’s downward trajectory, but the higher close reflected by the true body suggests that the sellers were ultimately unsuccessful in keeping the price at its intraday low.

The price’s rise from its session low to a higher close shows that a more bullish stance dominated the day, laying the groundwork for an upside reversal.

Useful Information

If you see a hammer candlestick on a price chart, you may be eager to make a trade and profit from the probable forthcoming price movement.

Before you place your order, consider a few practical considerations that can help you get the most of a hammer pattern deal.

The Signal of the Hammer

If you’re looking for a hammer signal that indicates a potential upside reversal, it should occur in the context of a downtrend, or declining price movement indicated by a succession of lower highs and lower lows.

The closing price may be somewhat higher or lower than the opening price, but it should be close to the open, implying that the candlestick’s genuine body stays tiny.

Seeking Confirmation

A hammer signal is confirmed when following market action confirms the assumption of a trend reversal. In other words, the candlestick that follows the hammer indication should corroborate the price increase.

Traders wanting to profit from a hammer signal will frequently purchase during the creation of this upward confirmation candle.

Setting Stop Losses and Profits

As with any trade, utilise stops to protect your position if the hammer signal does not play out as expected. Your stop level will be determined by your level of trust in the trade and your risk tolerance.

However, it may be advantageous to set a stop loss below the hammer pattern’s bottom, giving protection in case the negative pressure reemerges and the anticipated upward move does not occur.

If, on the other hand, the price begins to increase as a result of your awareness of the hammer signal, you must decide on an appropriate level to exit the trade and pocket your profits.

The hammer signal alone provides no information as to where you should place your take-profit order. As you plan an exit strategy, keep an eye out for other resistance levels, such as neighbouring swing lows.

What exactly is a candlestick with a hammer?

A hammer candlestick is a technical trading pattern that resembles a “T” in which the price trend of a security falls below its initial price, displaying a long lower shadow, and then reverses and closes near the opening price.

Is a hammer candlestick pattern considered bullish?

The hammer candlestick is a bullish trading pattern that may suggest that a stock has found its bottom and is poised for a trend reversal. It specifically shows that sellers entered the market, driving the price down, but were afterwards outnumbered by purchasers, driving the asset price up.

Examinees from ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) will take an improvement test.

The ICSE council has announced “improvement examinations” for candidates taking the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII).

Candidates can take an improvement test in any subject, and the highest result between the two examinations will be regarded final, according to Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which administers the two exams.

“The higher of the student’s marks from the two examinations will be considered,” Arathoon told The Telegraph.

He stated that students “are taking a risk by taking an improvement exam,” and the council does not want to “dissuade them from doing so.”

“In accordance with the recommendations of the NEP (National Education Policy) 2020… CISCE has decided to introduce improvement examinations beginning with the 2023 examination year, giving students a chance to improve.”

  • The subject of their choice for which they were confirmed for the main examination,” reads the circular issued by the council for the ISC improvement exams.
  • From June 19 to 23, the principals of the schools involved must register pupils who want to take the improvement examinations through the council’s Careers portal.
  • It should be noted that candidates who choose to appear for subject English must appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the subject,” reads the ISC circular.

In the case of ICSE, students who want to take the improvement test in a subject with more than one paper (for example, English, science, or history) will be able to select one or more papers.

(i.e., the main examination vs. the improvement examination) shall be considered the final marks.”

If such students are given the opportunity to rewrite the paper, “it gives them a chance to improve their score,” he says.

Several school principals have stated that they are sharing the material to ICSE and ISC examinees so that they can debate with their parents and teachers if they will take the improvement exam.

The results of the ICSE and ISC exams were declared on Sunday.
